De Belofte

Natalia Barroso

My head inclined in the edge of a cloud soon i noticed it on another realm
with those which held high my dreams
and hid them within angels' wings;
they had been whispering all of our thoughts confessions, secrets, essentially vows.
I was accompanied by the thoughts of a dear friend whose honey tea eyes were absent to my sight
the hearth of her heart had already touched mine she had spilled every inch of her she had to hide
it was my turn to dye the world
I had paints of colors nobody had known
So I asked her to lose her mind with me submerge to reverie, farewell reality;
an antidote to the disease of monotones, out of the sameness of the foolish ones escapades without their consent
eluding the black and whiteness
to the color we weren't allowing ourselves to see we'd make a promise for the next four years.
"It's dumb" I repeatedly mentioned, yet I knew not a part of me regretted the discovery of that mad confession.
She showered the idea with senses of avidity yet remained unsure to respond with vulnerability she feared the strong will of the oath,
the unbreakable force you'd put into those words.
Her eyelids felt need to be sewn down
our soft secrets swept the crumbs of doubt
she had asked me to let my head rest
but my brain's storms stayed to torment
patiently waiting for her response to come, the next morning I fill myself with hope.
The sky remained pitch black
silent, afraid of spilling anything out.
I shook unquiet, not noticed my habit waiting for the answer to my absurd banter
and as the morning winds kept company
a girl with hazel, fierce mane, sight buried in aim, showed herself in abundance of merriment.
Our emotions painted the colors of the dawn and we saw it bleed into bright hues in no time. Every soul around us noticed and gasped admiring the unjustifiably joyful sky.
Her lips evinced with all types of ambitions ridiculousness and nonsense but through all of it beaming. She held my words and with her fragile heart
promised to change the world at last in a night
with the presence of nobody else but ourselves
to commit that adventure we'd never forget.
Illuminated by the vivid morning sky,
our fingers interlock, swearing our vow;
I witness the promise we could never resign
the bond of a friendship we'd never leave behind.
