A Melodious Cacophony
Joely Garcia
with a simple utterance you can make,
my heart flutter
or even
stop beating
altogether
There is chaos in your world, a unique,
contained chaos
it calls to me
but perhaps i merely picked up
a frequency
which was, in reality
never meant for me:
she had it once
it called to her
but she never picked up on it
and with the absence of her notice
came the recluse of your heart
once more
you let it grow cold
you let this somberness and bitterness
consume you
it shattered you
and it shattered
me
But with each passing day
i also notice
the good it brought
the once callous, frosted parts of you
have begun to thaw
and despite the frequency not being
meant for me
and my desire to release it
i discover some new crevice
some new
gentleness;
a flutter begins in my chest again
the cavity expands
there is no turning back now
. . .
i guess i will just have to live
with this
pain of passion
