LETTING GO

Birana Lay

To hold my hand in yours.
To stare into your eyes for hours.
From our hands sprout flowers
Grounding us forever.
A garden envelops us
As I'm captivated in your smile.
You made it all worthwhile.
But all good things come to an end
As the sun begins its descent.
The roses twisted between our fingers decay
And the beautiful garden around us
Fades away.
Separating my hand from yours
Relief flows through my pores.
My hand free,
My being alone.
You gone as I stare into the darkness I've fallen into.
Reaching for your hand that's no longer there,
There's no way out and it's just not fair.
Regret pours through my veins
Awaiting for you to join me again
